What is PROTECT3D?

PROTECT3D is a revolutionary 3D technology platform that allows practitioners to order custom-fitting, low-profile protective devices for a wide range of injury and athletic protection applications. Order one of our products by submitting a 3D scan of your patient through the PROTECT3D iPad App. Then, our proprietary design process automatically generates a custom fitting digital model of the protective device for your patient, and is 3D printed at our FDA certified medical device manufacturing facility.

What do I need to get started?

To order our custom products, you will need to maintain an active account with us. Please reach out to us today at support@protect3d.io Once you have an account, you order products by submitting a 3D scan on our iPad app. You will need a compatible iPad with iOS 11.4 or later and a Structure Sensor Mark I or Mark II.
If you don’t yet have a Structure Sensor, they can be purchased HERE.

Calibrating the Structure Sensor or Troubleshooting 3D Scan Quality

Whether you are new to 3D scanning or are currently having difficulty, you’re in the right place to have all of your questions answered. The same TWO STEPS should be done when you first get your Structure Sensor and anytime you are troubleshooting the scan quality. Please follow the steps below: Once the sensor is mounted onto the iPad, you must first calibrate the Structure Sensor by downloading the Structure Sensor Calibrator app from the app store (link to download HERE). Instructions from the Structure Sensor website on how to calibrate the sensor can be found HERE. The second step is performing Stereo Image Refinement (only applicable on Mark II sensor, skip this step if you have a Mark I). This also takes place in the Structure Sensor Calibrator app, and instructions to do so can be found HERE - skip down to section titled Stereo Image Refinement (last section - read carefully). Time permitting, you can go through the other steps there to double check everything, but we’re trying to make this as easy as possible for you. Now that you've finished calibrating the Structure Sensor on your iPad, you are ready to get going. Launch the PROTECT3D App, and follow the instructions to take patient scans. It’s important to remember to allow 3-4 feet of clearance around where you’re taking scans. This will allow you to move around the patient freely, maintain scanner tracking, and collect accurate data.
Lastly, please make sure you have the up-to-date PROTECT3D App downloaded on your iPad. Feel free to reach out directly to our team if you have any additional questions. Thank you for reading!
